Children and family centres in the Northern Territory to help Indigenous families

The locations of three new children and family centres in the Northern Territory have been announced.

The new centres will be located in Gunbalanya, Palmerston and Ngukurr, and are in addition to two centres already being established in Maningrida and Yuendumu.

These centres will help local Indigenous families in disadvantaged communities by providing access to quality child care programs and services.

The Northern Territory Government will consult with each of the communities to make sure that the centres meet the needs of local children and their families.

The Australian Government has committed $293 million over six years to establish 35 children and family centres across the country.

The new centres are part of the Government’s commitment to close the gap in levels of disadvantage between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
