The National Survey of Parents’ Child Care Choices (NSPCCC) is being conducted by The Social Research Centre on behalf of the Office of Early Childhood Education and Child Care (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations). The survey will be conducted across Australia from May–July 2009. If you are a parent of a child aged under 12 you may be contacted to participate in the survey.
This survey has been designed to help the Government better understand parents’ decisions in relation to their use and non-use of early childhood education and care (child care and preschool). The information collected will inform the Australian Government’s Early Childhood Agenda.
Any information you provide will be completely confidential and your answers will not be identified as individual responses. Responses are used for research purposes only and are treated in strict confidence. No other agency or department will have access to your personal details. We are bound by the Provisions of the Commonwealth Privacy Act, as amended in December 2001.
Your telephone number has been chosen at random from all possible phone numbers in Australia. The numbers are computer generated and are included whether or not they appear in a directory. For our sample to represent the whole of Australia, we need to include people with silent or unlisted numbers.
The survey is entirely voluntary, but your cooperation is important if the Office of Early Childhood Education and Child Care is to get accurate feedback on parents’ decision-making process in terms of their child’s care.
If you want to confirm the bona fides of this study, you can contact the Office of Early Childhood Education and Childcare via email or phone the contact centre on 1300 363 079 (or 1800 554 809 for TTY).
The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete, depending on your answers. If you would prefer to participate in the survey at another time that is more convenient for you, this can be arranged.
Sorry to have disturbed you, we randomly generate telephone numbers as we find this is the best way to select households that represent Australian families with children, but sometimes this means that we do contact households that don’t have children.
If you have any questions about your participation in the survey or would like to make a time for an interviewer to call you, please call The Social Research Centre on 1800 023 040 (a free call).
If you have specific questions on information collected in the survey, contact the Office of Early Childhood Education and Childcare via email or phone the contact centre on 1300 363 079 (or 1800 554 809 for TTY).
