Good health and wellbeing are essential for all children. The following links to Australian Government information and programs provide details on ways that you can positively influence your child's eating and physical activity levels as well as manage the challenges of raising healthy children.

Cybersmart

Cybersmart provides activities, resources and practical advice to help young kids, kids, teens and parents safely enjoy the online world. Cybersmart also offers training and resources for schools and materials for library staff. Developed by the Australian Communications and Media Authority, Cybersmart is part of the Australian Government's cybersafety program.

Healthy Active

Working together for a Healthy Active Australia

This Australian Government website provides access to practical information and updates, news for families, parents, teenagers, children and their carers and older Australians on healthy eating, regular physical activity, overweight and obesity-particularly for children and adolescents-and active living. This website is managed by the Department of Health and Ageing.

HealthInsite

HealthInsite is an Australian Government initiative, funded by the Department of Health and Ageing. It aims to improve the health of Australians by providing easy access to quality information about human health.

Healthy Kids Check

The aim of the Healthy Kids Check is to ensure every four-year-old child in Australia has a basic health check to see if they are healthy, fit and ready to learn when they start school. The Healthy Kids Check will promote early detection of lifestyle risk factors, delayed development and illness and introduce guidance for healthy lifestyles and early intervention strategies.

The Healthy Kids Check will take place at, or around, the same time as the four-year-old immunisation. This initiative is managed by the Department of Health and Ageing.

Hearing Australia

Hearing Australia is one of the largest hearing service providers in the world with a reputation for innovation and world-leading practices. An Australian Government agency, Hearing Australia is dedicated to help people manage their hearing impairment so they have a better quality of life. It provides a full range of hearing services for children and young people up to the age of 21 and eligible adults.

Immunisation Australia

Immunisation Australia provides information about childhood and adolescent immunisation programs and eligibility for Government benefits. The Family Assistance Office website provides information about the immunisation requirements that must be met in order to be eligible for Child Care Benefit.

Kidsafe

Kidsafe is the leading non-government, not-for-profit charitable organisation, dedicated to preventing unintentional childhood injuries and reducing the resulting deaths and disabilities associated with childhood accidents in children under the age of 15.

KidsMatter

KidsMatter aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children, reduce mental health problems among children and achieve greater support for children (and their families) experiencing mental health difficulties. It includes - KidsMatter Early Childhood, designed for implementation in pre-schools and long day care; and KidsMatter Primary Schools, designed for implementation in Australian primary schools. Each initiative involves the people who have a significant influence on children's lives- parents, carers, families, child care professionals, teachers and community groups - in making a positive difference for children's mental health.

Medicare Australia is an Australian Government agency and plays an integral role in the Australian health sector. Its objective is to assist in improving health outcomes in Australia.

Raising Children Network is a website that provides parenting information for all Australians who care for children.
