Time to develop your Quality Improvement Plan

The first assessment visits under the National Quality Framework are expected to start in mid June 2012. The first requirement of the NQF assessment and rating process is for providers to develop a Quality Improvement Plan and submit it to the regulatory authority when requested by them.

All existing providers have until 30 April 2012 to develop their Quality Improvement Plan. During this time, there will be no assessment visits. This will give providers and services time to understand the National Quality Standard, the assessment and rating process and prepare for the assessment visit.

The Quality Improvement Plan does not need to be submitted to a regulatory authority until requested. New services must submit their Quality Improvement Plan within 3 months of their service approval being granted.

Factsheets on Quality Improvement Plans including a template and a guide to developing a Quality Improvement Plan are available to download by visiting the ACECQA website.
