Community Profiles released for the Australian Early Development Index
The Australian Early Development Index (AEDI) Community Profiles were released on 18 May 2010 to help communities understand how their children are developing in the years before school.
The AEDI Community Profiles are the next step in the release of results from the 2009 AEDI national data collection, which measured five areas of early childhood development and involved over 261 000 children - 98 per cent of all Australian children in their first year of full-time school.
To encourage community engagement and assist communities to respond to their AEDI results, an AEDI Local Champions Program was also launched by Minister Ellis. The local champions will work with a number of communities in need in each state and territory, providing on the ground resources and support to local community groups and service providers in the early childhood sector.
