Positive evaluation of early childhood enrichment program

On 22 November 2011, the Minister for Employment Participation and Child Care Kate Ellis launched the Australian Government commissioned evaluation of the $32.5 million national rollout of the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) - Investing in Our Future.

The evaluation provides insight into the two year home-based early childhood enrichment program, and how it has made a difference in the lives of Australian families and communities.

The report highlights the positive impact HIPPY has on a child's early numeracy and literacy skills, and the support it provides to parents and carers to be their child's first teacher.

HIPPY has been successfully rolled out across 50 communities nationally and is on track to support around 3,500 families.
