Get your Rebate

Are you missing out on child care assistance?

Not sure? Then why not lodge a claim for Child Care Benefit (CCB). Even if your CCB entitlement is zero due to your income, you may still be eligible for the Child Care Rebate (CCR). There is no income test for the CCR.

If you are using CCB approved child care for work, training or study-related reasons the Australian Government will provide you with 50 per cent of your out-of-pocket child care costs, up to the annual cap. From 1 July 2011 the CCR annual cap is $7,500 per child per year.

To be eligible for CCR you must use CCB approved child care; be eligible for CCB (entitled at a rate of zero or more); and pass the work, training, study test at some time during the week or have an exemption. You do not need to claim CCR. The rebate is paid to you automatically if you are eligible for CCB for approved child care.

From July 2011 the CCR can be paid fortnightly either direct to your approved child care service as a fee reduction or direct to your bank account. You still have the option of quarterly or annual payments as a lump sum direct to your bank account. Whatever CCR payment option you choose it will be applied for the entire financial year unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Families are advised to check their entitlements for Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate by contacting the Family Assistance Office on 13 61 50 or accessing online services at the Family Assistance Office website.
